How can 3D printing molds improve the sealingof injection molded products for medical devices?

With the outbreak of novel coronavirus, the medical industry is experiencing special challenges, which are not only reflected in the shortage of medical resources, but also in the shortage of various medical supplies. In special times, the quality of medical packaging products is also severely tested.

The health and safety of medical drugs are of great importance, so the sealing performance is in a key position in the packaging of medical products. The sealing performance of medical plastic bottle cap is generally the sealing performance of its mouth and cap. The cap has good sealing performance, which can prevent the leakage of gas and liquid in the bottle. For plastic bottle caps, sealing performance is an important standard to evaluate their quality.

Generally speaking, there are three areas where the bottle cap provides sealing capacity, which are the inner seal, the outer seal and the top seal of the bottle cap. However, in medical supplies, such as ampoules and other small bottles with drug powder, the cap is very small, but it has very strict requirements for the product, and must have high sealing performance. Therefore, the product quality of the sealed cap is particularly important.

This kind of injection bottle cap has a narrow volume and special structure, so the requirements for mold manufacturing are very high, because the cooling quality is related to the molding quality of injection products. In the traditional mold making, the waterways are usually machined by means of lathe turning. However, due to the limitation of the mold structure, the traditional waterway can not be close to the product, which poses a challenge to the waterway system in the traditional mold manufacturing. In the original scheme, the hot runner flip chip has high temperature and long cycle; The product size requirements are high, and the product temperature difference during ejection shall be less than 10 degrees, which is difficult to achieve by ordinary waterway.
